The law
Leasing is governed by Law No. 4 of 2008 on Property Leasing. Law No. 8 of 2026 amended it, in force from 3 September 2026.
Lease registration fee
Registering a lease now costs a flat QAR 250, replacing the old scale based on the yearly rent.
Settling a violation
The settlement fee for registration violations was reduced from QAR 5,000 to QAR 1,000.
State property
Leases of state property to third parties must be registered within two months and are exempt from the fee.
